I'm installing my Zalman Q-310 I've watched 100 of videos but there is always missing détails.

1-Do you remove the thermal paste that is on the Zalman cooler and put fresh one?

2-Do you put thermal paste on the cpu too or just on the cooler?

3-The bracket that hold the cpu on the motherboard do you remove it or you can screw the cooler over it?

4- Where do you put the other extremity of the cooler on the rear of the case where there is already a fan or under one the tree spaces for the fans on top? Left, middle or rigth?

Solution
Use the thermal paste on the cooler already if it comes with it.

If not, apply a pea sized dot to the CPU and place the cooler ontop. DO NOT smear it around.

DO NOT remove the CPU bracket.

Hey,

If the Zalman cooler has thermal paste pre-applied on the base of the cooler than thats all you need (don't apply additional paste). Just make sure that your CPU is clean of old thermal paste.
If the Zalman cooler does not have pre-applied thermal paste on it, or has old thermal paste that has already been used once then make sure you clean both the cooler and the CPU (so that neither have any old paste), and then apply a pea sized drop of thermal paste on the CPU.

As for the retention bracket for the CPU you should leave it as is, as you are not removing the CPU, just make sure that you correctly install the cooler (read over the instructions manual, it should explain it well).

Hope this helps!
