Will integrated graphics affect performance.

Hi everyone

I am choosing the core to put in my PC and I have my mind set on an Intel. I was wondering if the fact that most of them have integrated graphics would some how affect the processor if I have a dedicated GPU(because the integrated graphics take up room on the CPU?). I wanted to know if it would change anything if I would or even if I could get a CPU with no integrated graphics. Performance wise of course.

Well it all depends on what settings you want to play at and at what resolution. Also what games. For league of legends the GTX 650 Ti will do fine, I'm not sure about team fortress 2 but it should be fine for that too. If you wanted to play new games at high settings at 1080p that card will not cut it. If you don't mind playing at lower resolutions and lower detail settings then it should do fine again.

I'd recommend the 650 Ti Boost over the the non boost version. It is a better card for just a little more. Also, try getting a 2gb card instead of 1, especially if you want to game at higher resolutions as you'll need more memory.

If you have an integrated GPU, whether it be on the motherboard or the CPU, is disabled as soon as you get a discrete graphics card. It's like it isn't even there.

an intel i5 will still out perform an amd 8350 in a lot of things (things that use up a lot of cores will run faster on the amd mind you but this is rare). so no, having the igpu on the processor doesn't hurt performance. would an i5 be faster if it didn't have an igpu?

yes but that isn't the case. What cpu (and graphics card) are you thinking of getting and what will you be using it for? If you let us know this we can tell you what options you have that might perform better.

I am getting a i5-3570 because I have been told its very good and i do not need the k version because i do not plan to overclock.

GPU wise I was told the Gigabyte GV-N65TOC-1GI GeForce GTX 650 Ti 1GB was a good choice. This was a recommendation from a friend. I am not sure what brand is better or much about the difference between GeForce GTX or Radeon HD wich seem to be the 2 chip sets that stand out.

Im am going to do mostly gaming on this PC (League of Legends, Team Fortress 2)
I was hopping not spending more than 150$ on a GPU but I can pay more if it is really worth it.

if you dont plan to overclock you might want to look into the i5-4670

If you want a cpu without integrated graphics, look for a processor with a "P" next to it.

Also I believe the xeon and 6 core intel processors have no integrated graphics either, although those are obviously going to cost a fair bit
