Hello everyone,

Just got a new pc and it keeps tripping my breaker. I plugged it into a 20amp circuit and it worked fine but the room I want it in is a 15amp. How is it possible that a PC can trip this with a 500w power supply. I unplugged everything but the pc and it still tripped it after 2 mins. Yes it's one of those breakers with the test button on it. What do u guys think I should do.

Lol.

But in all seriousness, this just means you're overloading the breaker somewhere.

And when you say "one of those breakers with the test button on it," are you talking about a wall socket or the actual breaker you find in the breaker box? There's a big difference.

If it's the wall socket that's being tripped, I don't recommend plugging a computer into one of those. Those are designed as a safety measure in case of a short circuit (aka from water in a bathroom or kitchen). Plug your computer into a surge protector and have that be plugged into a "regular" wall socket.

If it's the breaker being tripped, you simply have too much stuff drawing power from that breaker and need to plug things into another circuit.
