I also checked the hard drive activity of all my drives there was not any spikes in any drive the problem is at first when the computer is booted up the activity light glows normal even when entered into the windows but after an hour the problem starts even when i was seeing an youtube video the hdd light glows all the time
Well then tell me How old is your HDD and what is its RPM
i have 2 hdd's running into my pc the primary drive is seagate 500gb barracuda 7200rpm which is about 2-3 years old and the other one which is a seagate IDE
80 gb drive for storing my songs and software . the problem is when the computer is booted up and gets to the desktop the hdd activity light glows normal but after sometime like after 1-2 hours the lights starts glows on continuously i don't know what is the reason .i'm using the drive activity gadget to track the activity of the drive ,i also checked with the seagate seatools whether my harddrives are functioning properly and the results were positive ,will it be a motherboard problem?
How old is your IDE 80 GB drive ? Hard Disk's have age , I also had a IDE 80 GB Samsung Drive and It malfunctioned just like your's and after 3 - 3.5 years that Hard Drive was DEAD . I suggest you backup all your DATA of 80gb IDE drive .
Well that HDD light is glowing continues for a long time because the reader of the HDD which physically touches the Disk inside the HDD creates Microscopic Lines in which sometimes the Reader get struck . Just open your CPU case once your LED is glowing for a long time then listin to both HDD , If anyone is make click sound very Frequent then Backup its DATA and Go to store and Buy a New One
