Good graphics pairing for CPU

I am new to this forum and appreciate your help. My graphics card recently broke and I am in the market for a new one. My computer is on the older side but it still serves my purposes and I am not ready to get a new one. My gaming consists of casual Starcraft II and dota. I don't need to be able to play the latest 3d first person shooter, but a noticeable upgrade from my old card (a Geforce 9600 GSO) would be nice. I have 4 general criteria:

1. Around 100 dollars
2. Only physically take up one PCI slot (that is all there is room for)
3. Run reasonably cool and not be too power hungry (the old one had overheating issues which is probably why it broke. Also the computer only has a 500W power supply)
4. Something that makes sense given my CPU, a Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4ghz.

I used to keep up on this stuff more, but have fallen behind in recent years. I really appreciate any recommendation you have.

Thanks for your help guys. I agree that the 7750 looks like a good fit. I was just poking around and saw the R7 250 was just released. The price point is the same, is there anything to recommend it over the 7750?

For a 7770, there is another thread where they listed some narrow 7770s but the fans stick out a bit. If those are also too wide, you'd have to get a 7750 I think.
