I have just built my PC (Windows 8.1, Radeon HD 7850, Athlon II 750 k) and cannot play anything that requires directx 9, but 10 and 11 are fine. I cannot play games like Hawken or planetside 2 because of it. anyone have any suggestions? btw I have already tried the webin staller.

Well i do heard that amd 7k series have problem with dx9 games mostly in form of flickering. The problem was somewhat acknowledge by amd even before the frame time problem on 7k series (single card config). The later has been solve mostly but i dont know about the dx9 flickering issue. What exactly your problem?
Well I believe the source is the Directx software its self not the graphics card itself. I have seen other people with the exact same card run these games perfectly and I have reinstalled all drivers. The problems range from barely running (.5 FPS on the Hawken store screen) to the program crashing as soon as it starts (Planetside 2 and Civ V dx9 version launchs a black screen that just crashes in a minute or two while Civ V dx10 and 11 run perfectly).
Well I just checked Hawken and PhysX was definitely off before I posted this so it is not the root of the problem. I believe its Dx9 because when I play Civ V on Dx10 or 11 it's fine but when I play it one Dx9 mode its not. Hawken and PS2 are both Dx9 games and they are the ones that are having trouble.
