Hi folks! ill be building my gaming pc really soon. on or before black friday. I have aprice range but most of the parts are already given. all i want is some opinions and some suggestions.

ABOUT THE SYSTEM.
i want a red themed light show. But im willing to compromise parts i aint getting parts just because it is red. But i do prefer it is.
not really implementing crossfire in the future but who knows.
i want it to be quiet.
not really ready for liquid cooling build so no suggestions on building a liquid setup.
I am a noob.

BOLD = PRIORITY PARTS GETTING ASAP
ITALIC = SOONER AFTER I AM DONE WITH THE PRIORITY PARTS.

PARTLIST

CPU: Intel i7 4770k theres a new line of cpus. should i go for this or for a newer one?
MOTHERBOARD: ASUS Maximus VI GENE Thoughts on this? any other alternative with better features?
GPU: XFX 7970 BE cant change this cuz i already have it. But if i do want to crossfire soon or change this, what would anyone recommend? i heard that theres a new line for amd?
MEMORY: Corsair Vengeance 8x2 cant change this cuz i already have it
POWERSUPPLY: SeaSonic X Series 850W 80 PLUS Gold So is there any better FULL MODULAR PSU, that is relatively cheaper? I wont be crossfiring anytime soon btw.
STORAGE 1: Western Digital Caviar Black Any thoughts on this?
CASE: Coolermaster Storm Trooper vs Coolermaster Storm Stryker I know this is just personal preference cuz both are practically the same except that the white doesnt have ESATA in front? am i even gonna use the Esata? what is it for? the stryker comes with a windowed side while the trooper doesnt.
OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows 8 ok the stupidest question ever. should i just get w7 or upgrade myself to w8? i played with a w8 lately and it was hard. i mean, i cant tinker with anything in the system that much(assuming ill try to).

WIRELESS ADAPTER: TP-Link TL-WDN4800 802.11a/b/g/n anything better?

CPU COOLER:Corsair H100i vs Corsair H110 Which is better? I'll be changing its fans too.

THERMAL COMPOUND: Arctic Cooling MX4 4g Thermal Paste
Do i even have to get a different paste?

STORAGE 2 & 3: Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB VS/or BOTH with Samsung 840 Pro Series 256GB Ok, so at first pick i was going for 840 pro series 256gb but i gave it some thinking. do i even have to that much? since most of the time ill be playing my game anyway.well i really dont know. should i get both or just one? which one? dont say the more the better. I know thats true but, whats a smart buy over here.

MONITOR: ASUS VG248QE 24-Inch 144hz Any cheapter alternatives with higher Hz?

FANS(VISIBLE OUTSIDE THE CASE): i was opting for CORSAIR Air series AF120 LED red quiet edition is there any "LED" fan that is better than this? in terms of quietness and illumination.

FANS( NOT VISIBLE. Hidden inside): prefer quiet ones

CASE LIGHTING: should i go for the easier led strips or just go COLD CATHODE? i want the case to be fully lit. but i want it to be spread evenly. I also want to have control with this or something that i can change color with buttons. or maybe with sound activation too.

Anyway, thats pretty much it. In the end, i really want to have a system that would stand out. Dont need to really MOD it and cut parts of the case cuz that would make me cry hahaha. what i do want though is to have some lighting effect on the case at top and in front. I know i want red but if i get all lights red with all fans red led, would that be a waste?i dont know what to partner red with because the other color i like is green and that would make my pc looks like christmas. anyway, any more thoughts? sound cards? keybaords? mouse? mic? Thanks in advance. just post any suggestions and opinions.

btw, how did i do in posting this? is this good? what else should i consider doing in order for a easier read?

Solution
What is the purpose of the rig? I get the impression that its a gaming rig, but the parts you have chosen are more in line with an editing rig (except the extreme lack of storage).

If its a gaming rig, drop the CPU to an i5-4570k. The RAM you also only need 8GB, but I guess thats a bit late now.

Changes to the rig in general.
- You really dont need to spend that much on a mobo, and you dont want an MATX board inside a full ATX case. Get something closer to the $150 pricepoint, an AsRock Z87 Extreme4 or Gigabyte GA-Z78X-D3H would be good options.
- PSU is about the best you can get, no reason to change it. If your looking to save a few bucks, there are cheaper PSU's (of lower efficiency) that are just as good.
- Seagate Barracuda's are...

- Seagate Barracuda's are far cheaper and deliver similar performance to a Caviar Black.
- They are basically the same case. eSATA might be useful if your video editing and would need to be easily connecting HDD's but still getting internal speeds. If your gaming, then you probably will never need it.
- OS is personal preference, if you dont like the new UI just get Windows 7.

Wireless NIC's are Wireless NIC's, it'l do fine. If you required something special, you would know about it.
CPU cooler, probably the H100i as most performance fans are 120mm in size. Though it really wouldnt make much of a difference either way I think.
Thermal Paste, some comes with the cooler.
Get a Samsung 840 EVO 128GB. You dont need the write performance of the Pro, and 128GB is all you need for a boot/programs drive.
Monitor, probably not.

IMO, dont get LED fans. High quality fans tend not too have them and they are a poor way of providing case illumination.
The Corsair Quiet editions are pretty good for everything, and two OEM (no colour or vibration damping) come on the H100i.

Case lighting, NZXT HUE is all I can say :)

Solution
Agree^. For a gaming rig a i7 is NOT needed and can even hurt the performance of some games including stuttering that would cause one to have to shut off Hyperthreading in the BIOS effectively turning the i7 into a i5!.

For case lighing I would go with CCT tubes and/or a NZXT HUE. I have both in my rig and I must say I really like the HUE it is a really nice unit and does not cost a lot.

If you had not already got the ram I would have said to go with 2x4gig as that is all you would really need for a gaming rig but to late on that.

I personally would get a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO instead of the Corsair H100i as I got two of them for my rigs in January and as of last moth have had to replace both of them since the pumps on both of them have gone out causing my rigs temps to sore so high that the system's shut down automatically. Well first the LED lighting went out on the first one then the pump the second one the pump just went out about 2 weeks later.

Windows 8 is in my opinion a really good OS and does not take long at all to get used to. With the faster boot and shutdown times I really like it. Plus my games seem to load faster across the board. Personally I very rarely used the Start Menu anyway so I have not missed it one little bit.

Would agree on the motherboard also get a Full ATX instead of the Micro. For one thing that is just way to much for a micro ATX and does not give you much in the way of expansion in the future.

As for the SSD I would go for the Samsug 840 in a 120gig or so. Get what you can afford with out going overboard. I do not see any reason to get two of them at all. You really only need one for the OS as your games and such can be put on the 2tb drive leaving the SSD for the OS.

As for the monitor if you are sure that all of your games can be played at 120fps or better then go for a 144Hz monitor. After using 27" monitors I could not go back to something so small myself but that just me.

As for the lighting I went with blue CCT plus the NZXT Hue and then for more light I went with white LED 120mm Enermax Fans. I choose white because it gave me a brighter light without changing the main cooler theme and my In Win GRone Case is White anyway. Plus the Fan blades on these can be removed for easy cleaning and they make the inside of the case brighter with out changing the blue color from the CCT's

thanks guys. to both posters here are a few of my questions.

CPU: Yeah its not necessary to get 4770k but how about hyperthreading? If im not mistaken, new gamers "MIGHT" benefit from hyperthreading. i heard BF4 will. i think. But anyway, i'll be streaming my games online while i play. will the i7 benefit or not at all?if not, besides having a good internet connection, what should i consider when it comes to streaming smoothly?
CASE LIGHTING: the HUE doesnt need to change colors everytime right?i dont like it changing colors every second. and i saw a video of it in youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZwYHEQsrwA its hella dark with the room lights are off. Now are the CCT good? i mean, would it show up like this http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/964757/width/500/height/1000/flags/LL
thats a photo of a storm trooper that im aiming to mimic. anyway, i really dont know how led lights and cct works. maybe after getting the parts ill search how.
OS: windows 8 it is then.
motherboard: how about this http://us.msi.com/product/mb/Z87-GD65-GAMING.html#overview ?
SSD: ok will do that. 120gb 840 evo it is then. and barracuda.
COOLER: im really leaning towards H100i or H110 because of its looks. more sleek. i dont like those big fans on top of the mobo.
MEMORY: that was a typo. its actually 2v4 not 8v2.
PSU: thanks.but can i pick a psu lower than 850w? i was thinking if i should get something lower but 80 PLUS PLATINUM since i barely turn off my desktop. if so, suggest me a smart buy for this.

as of the moment, my pcpartpicker says it'll all cost somewhere about 1700 without fans and lights included. if i get to save more than i expected, ill throw in a sound card. if do throw in a soundcard, any suggestions? how about this http://us.creative.com/promos/SoundBlasterZseries/ ?

The livestreaming changes things, the i7 will be useful as I would assume your on the fly encoding and for that, more threads the better.

The Hue can be set to a single colour, but also has settings that make it change automatically.

That MSI board is pretty good.

If you plan to Crossfire/SLI later on, 750W would be plenty. I suggest you dont really aim toward higher efficiencies, vast majority of the time the extra cost to get that efficiency would take years to pay back in electricity savings. Between 80+ Bronze and Gold is about a 5% efficiency difference, its not that large.
