Which card is better they are both
i have found the 270X £140
and the 760 £165
the £25 difference doesnt matter but which is better

This year I was really dissapointed with amd because they gave new names to their old GPUs.Better go for the gtx 760 and avoid the r9 270x as it is just a revision of the HD 7950.

The stock 760 might win against the stock 7950 but thats only because the 760 is way newer. If you OC the 7950 to like 1050 mhz and bump the memory up to like 1400 mhz, I wanna say the 7950 would out preform the 760 quite well not to mention both the R9-270x (stock £125) and 7950 (crazy sales keeping it at like £125-135) are £20-30 cheaper then they 760 (stock price £160). I would go with the R9-270x at that price for performance ratio.

No thats not the case maybe the 7 series cards are using the same GPU-the GK104 but there is significant difference between a gtx 770 and 760 and 680 and 670 and 660 ti.Are they priced at the same price point? No.there is difference in benchmarks of all games. But when it comes to AMD the 280x revision of 7970 is priced at 300$ similar to the 7970.In case of nvidia we see that the cuda cores,SMX shaders, clock speeds are different from each others. But in the 280x,270x we see the same stream processors based on the same SMX units at only a higher clock speeds

Survey says.... GTX 760, and as an added bonus you'll be able to turn up the full PhysX effects in the upcoming Call of Duty: Ghosts.

then what is a GTX 770? or a 760? i dont think those are brand new cards.

No they are not brand new cards because they are based on the same GK104 but when compare the shaders they are differently based on the SMX units. For example the GTX 770has 1536 cuda cores while the 760 possess 1152 cuda cores

ok so the 770 is a a gtx 680 and the 760 is what a 660ti or 670 dumed down a bit?

the 680 and 770 is not priced at the same point. However the 770 actually performs a little better than the 680 in modern titles. So there has been some tweaking.the 760 actually replaces the 660 ti at the same price point with a better performance. However all the difference I mentioned has AMD done a little effort improving their GPUs what nvidia did?

they changed thier price and up'ed the clocks still same card. If prices dictates what the card is then my 7970's are 7870's for the price i got them for. Im an amd fan but keep my mind open. I think what AMD and NVIDIA did with the new cards is wrong but Nvidia does have maxwell and AMD has Pirates Islands coming so hopefully all of those cards will be new not re-badged cards. Nvidia's price gouging though is just wrong.

nope, overclocking 7950 won't outperform 760, it's only a hypothetical thing that only works in 3dmark, no effect of gaming fps whatsoever
