If the scheduled release of haswell E and DDR4 ram is the end of 2014. Is it a good idea to wait or will the upgrade not be worth waiting for as it would only be a slight upgrade from haswell and ddr3
thanks

Depending on what you currently have, it might be worth waiting for especially if you are still satisfied with your current PC.

However, initial prices for DDR4 RAM will likely be pretty high until production of DDR4 ramps up. I probably won't even bother looking at DDR4 prices until a few months after Skylake is released.

I don't think is going to be worth it until DDR4 prices come down a little bit..Because MoBo with DDR4 support will be pricey, Haswell E/Broadwell are going to be pricey and the DDR4 itself is going to be pricey, so you'll have to pay a lot more for little extra performance :s
