Hi guys

I recently bought an FX-8320 and I am cooling it with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. I am getting 33C idle temps (at BIOS). Is this normal?

Also, will I be able to overclock it to 4Ghz on an ASUS m5A97 evo R2.0 ? And if I do, will it cause a big jump in power usage?

Solution
33c for air cooling is not bad at all. As for OC'ing you should be able to do 4GHz with just a multiplier overclock with no problem at all since those CPU's are not clock locked. Just up the multiplier and leave the voltage at stock should be no problem.

What is your load temp's like?

3 Days ago I got mine. It works excellent with my 3570k. Idle temps were 35-40'C here , so yours seem just fine. Its normal.
Yes you can OC , but I doubt the 65'C limit will stop you. Try it and run a stress test like Prime95 for like half an hour and use PerfMonitor 2 for temps and CPU-Z for temps and frequency. Make sure you stay below 65'C , preferably 60'C.
I would start at 4GHz and then 4.1GHz and finally 4.2GHz , because the 212 EVO cant go further.
About power , yes it will be in the 155-220W under full load range depending on clock , multiplier and volts.
Make sure your volts are right , else you might blow it up.
This is all I can say. Good luck !
