Hi guys. I have had a Packard Bell Easynote TS for about 1.5 years, perfectly good working order. Suddenly the WIFI just stopped working this Saturday. had not installed anything and it just went. To make matters worse, the button with the 'Wireless' sign does not seem to work either... It is the laptop as other WIFI devices work perfectly.
Also, I went to packardbell.com to update the wireless adapter driver but to be honest I do not know whcih one to choose (they have about 3 brands of drivers) - You can tell I am so not a tecchie.

Help please!

Cheers

Jose

Before trying to get the correct driver, look in Device Manager to see if the wireless network adapter is listed or is shown as "unidentified network device" with an error symbol.

If it's not listed at all, nor listed as "unknown", the wireless chip itself is most likely faulty so a driver wouldn't fix that problem anyway.

The quickest fix in that case is to buy a plug-in USB wireless adapter.

Wireless chip failure is more common on HP/Compaq laptops, not Packard Bell, but I guess it can happen to any in that price-bracket.

Hi Phillip,

Thanks ever so much for your answer. It really helps.

I di think it was oe a hardware than a software problem, so I will look into your suggestions.

Thanks a bunch.
