Games would remain playable (60+ FPS), with lowered graphics settings, for a solid 4-5 years, but it is already beginning to wade at max settings. If you are thinking about buying one, I suggest the GTX 770. It costs less, and performs better.

It will likely last 10 or so years. It will likely be pretty good at 1080p gaming for another 4 years albeit you will be playing at medium to low settings then.

Or the R9 280X, it has a bit better performance for $100 less..

Well it doesn't offer better performance, however the bang for buck is rather appealing:

On my standards, the GTX 770 would last 5 years. Just like the GTX 275, it's already 5 years old but I will still be willing to use one.

As suggested by Q6600, the R9 280x has much better bang for buck. Seeing that now, I would suggest it over the 770. Especially since AMD is offering so many promising technologies with these next gen cards.
