Streaming PC i5 or i7?

Hello everyone, I want to put together a cheap streaming pc. Would an i5 be able to handle it or should I go for the i7?Thanks!

If you really want the extra threads from the i7 you can get a Xeon E3 1230 V2. It can't be overclocked, however.

Probably going to go with that, I was looking at the Xeon's and I think that multi-threading will help me as it does on my gaming pc, thanks :)
  4. i7, far and away... but that said you're better off with a video capture card then either. The amount of cpu power streaming video eats up will chew into your fps no matter what cpu you get. a video capture card is the only way to do it without seeing a hit to your fps. so get the i5 and take the $100 you saved over the i7 and spend it on a video capture card, that i5+video capture card will work far and away better then the i7 by itself.

I have a Avermedia Live Gamer HD
  6. then why ask? the streaming video card does all the work. ANY cpu will do fine with it. you probably should be asking which cpu will play the games you want to play better... cause with a capture card the cpu won't be doing any work
