So I just got My 8 GB of Hyper X beast today, Previously I was using Hyper X red 8 GB. Are they compatible if I use them in the same set up to get a combined total of 16 GB. They are both 1600 MHz with a cas latency of 9 at 1.65v.

Those are both for the red, but I found the beast elsewhere. Do the red run at 1600Mhz when you throw them in? HyperX modules often need set up in the BIOS to run at advertised speeds.

Anyway, as I mentioned, you can try it, but I would not, nor would I recommend it. You could wait a month for the crazy Black Friday deals and just score some identical beast sticks, I bet.

I haven't seen the HyperX Red at 1600Mhz with those specs (CL 9 at 1.65), can you give links?

All in all...I wouldn't do it. When they're not sold in a kit, they're not guaranteed to work correctly together, of course it's your prerogative to try it, but be careful.

I just went into BIOS to look, By Default the speed for the red is 1333Mhz and my beast is already at 1600 for the default. I put them in together and my red was bring my beast down to 1333mhz and it would not let me clock them up to 1600. So I guess I can use them but it will bring my beast down.
