Ok so I'm thinking of buying a I7 4770k however my current motherboard isn't compatible. What is the cheapest motherboard I can buy to run the I7?
Whats the risk, if any, of buying a cheaper motherboard?
Other components:
Psu: 750w
RAM: 2x 4GB
Gfx: Nvidia GTX 660 OC edition
3 SATA drives

Thanks,
Jake

Cheap MB's wont last long, and have less features. So don't go with cheap ones.

Here is a good one and not too expensive :

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

Motherboard: Asus Z87-PRO ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($169.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $169.99
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

And what is the make/model of PSU ? Just 750W means nothing cause its a HASWELL CPU you are talking about.

The cheapest motherboard that will run a 4770K will be about $50.
But, you do not want that. It will not have the requisite Z87 chipset to allow overclocking.
You will need to spend $100-$120 for one.
I see little risk in a lower priced unit, particularly if it has been out a while and the bios has had time to mature.
All the brands are using the same guts... the Z87 chipset. They are all reasonably good.

Since it looks like your intended usage is gaming, I might suggest you save $100 and buy a 4670K instead. Ust the $100 saved to buy a better graphics card; you will game better.

Now I know you said don't go for cheap ones but i found this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gigabyte-Motherboard-4th-Genera...

It has all the ports I need plus more and ratings are pretty good! Anything you can see that isn't good?

NO:

That motherboard has a H87 chipset that will not let you overclock your 4770K.
You will need to find a Z87 based motherboard. You would lose about 20% potential performance and have paid a price premium for a "K"
