upgrading my old desktop.

I have an old assembled P4 desktop running win X P, in working condition. I would like to upgrade the CPU to the newer version and give it to my daughter . pls advice me as to what parts can be changed and which ones upgraded to give a newer feel.

Sorry but you've given us very little details.

You've just said the equivalent of I have "vehicle" what can I upgrade on it.

To upgrade the CPU you're probably going to have to purchase a new CPU, motherboard and memory as anything from that time frame isn't going to be useful with anything from today.

What are you hoping your daughter will do with it? Online, games, word processing, school work???

wow, honestly I don't know where to start... it's so old and replacing a CPU would probably require replacing just about everything else there too, so I suggest you instead to pick a cheap desktop even second hand one and it will be both better, less hassle and probably just the same price anyway.

Well actually you didnt give us any info about your PC so pls write what MotherBoard you have, CPU, RAM, Power Supply etc' and what would be your budget, that's coz you might not be able to upgrade any part due to the age of your machine.
