My networked external hard drive was hacked into and all my files were encrypted. Is there any way to fix this?

There are a few blackmail virus programs that encrypt your files and demand payment for the means of un-encrypting them.
They would normally do this to your hard drive as well as the external hard drive
Kaspersky have a number of products to help victims of these encrypting virus scams
