I have a 2001 Buick Century with the default cassette stereo and 6 speakers. I'm looking for a decent car stereo that has bluetooth, usb, HD radio, and detachable face. I'd like to keep the cost under $200.

Eventually, I'll want to add an amplifier and replace the speakers. I don't see a sub happening.

Any advice on decent brands and models? Thanks!

This sounds like it would fit your criteria perfectly. Kenwood makes good car audio, it's single DIN so it should fit without any problem (although I think Buicks would hold double DIN as well), USB, bluetooth, HD Radio, and detachable face for $199. The only drawback is that the app features appear to be compatible for iphones. If you're an Apple person that's fine but if you're like me and are a fan of Android it's a pain. However, nearly all car audio manufacturers really seem to push iphone compatibility and completely ignore the more frequently used Android platform.

Thanks for the reply.

Taking a closer look, I really don't need BT because I don't have a phone that supports it. The goal was to couple my iPod touch to it thru BT, but I could just as easily plug in a usb thumb drive or use a cable fromthe iPod. Plus, this unit seems to be very complex and have lots of bells and whistles I really don't need and don't want to pay for.

My typical usage while driving will be: turn it on, find some radio (analog/HD) stations, play some mp3 when I get bored with radio. The fewer key presses the better for me.

In many cases the ipod controls and apps have to be run through the usb port. As far as BT goes, I would still consider it a good feature as you may end up with a phone that has that capability and the hands free is not only nice but may end up being legally required for a true "hands free" way of communicating.

Good choice if it fits your needs. You can't go wrong with a Kenwood.
