Very first build! Good or no? (hope to run bf4/cod ghosts)

Hi, im planning on doing my very first desktop build! please let me know if all of these parts are good for running recent games like bf4/cod ghosts. And hopefully that they're all compatible with each other! Thanks!

Case: cooler master elite 430.
RAM: g skill ripjaw series- 8 gb ddr3 sdram
Processor: AMD FD8350 eight core 4 ghz
Motherboard: ASUS M5A99FX pro R2.0
Graphics card: GIGABYTE GV-R797OC-3GD HD 7970 3GB 384 bit ddr5
PSU: OCZ modxstream pro 700 watt modular
Disk drive: LG internal 12x blue ray drive.

Ok what about making it cheaper? Besides the blue ray thing. (I have a lot of those) any way I can have a decent desktop without it being overkill? Idk what I'm looking for so kinda just winded it puttin this setup together. Any suggestions?

Here is some advice, your CPU, PSU and RAM are all under $200, while your GPU is over $300. Do not bottleneck your components! You want to disperse your money equally over all of the parts. For example, get a Corsair HX1050 PSU.

It's cheap for the quality. It's 80+ Gold certified and it is fully modular. There are of course lower wattages for a lower price as well, In your case, I think the 850 version will suffice, but i'd rather be safe then sorry.

P.S Why not use an Intel CPU? A 4770K would be a nice choice for gaming.

I would stick to Corsair or SeaSonic PowerSupply. I would also get a high end air cooler for the processor. Something like the Noctua D14 or the Phantec TC14. Lastly, if time allows I would get one of the new Radeon R9 series video cards such as the 280X. It's a "newer" 7970.

You don't need to spend your money evenly like that. It won't get you the most performance. In fact, that's how you create the exact bottlenecks that you're talking about.. Look at any of the System Builder Marathon builds and look at how much more money is spent on the graphics card(s) than the CPU, motherboard, or any other component in the system. His CPU is enough for his single graphics card (or even a second card later on) and his power supply choice is solid. Absolutely no need to overspend on a 1000W+ PSU when his whole system will draw ~400 watts at full load.

The only things I would change would be to swap the 7970 for an R9 280x as it is the newer, faster version of the card. I would also look into getting an SSD if possible but not everyone has the ~$100 to spare to grab a 120GB+ model. Everything else looks solid.

ahahaha sorry i can't help it. it's just so tempting to use the most appropriate pun.

as a side note - the 8350 is a great proc for the money. bottlenecks are always present in any system, ever. its just a matter of how severe the bottleneck is. and the 8350 is no slouch whatsoever. unless the 5~7fps average diff in bf4 vs a stock i5 using a single gpu can be considered "severe" (both are running 60+ ave fps).
p.s. please do note that the OP is concerned about running bf4 so saying (insert game here) plays better on an i5 or i7 is practically useless. and the OP going to be running a single 7970.
