Hello!

This is my first post here at Tomshardware and I am writting because I am really at an end path..

I have recently build a complete PC for video editing and videogames. But I am experiencing several problems. The most important one is that I have 1866 MHz DDR3 RAM installed and it is only running at 1333MHz.

I have already searched for a solution of similar problems on this fórum and I have tried everything I read.

When I let the BIOS with the automatic pre-settings it sets my DDR3 RAM to 1333MHz. And every modification I try, it will give me the blue screen when Windows is booting. I have tried to set it to XMP profile, set up manually the speed and the RAM timings (timings recommended on specs). I have as well tried to set up the RAM to 1600 MHz. and nothing. Always blue screen at boot.

Here is my PC configuration

MoBo: ASUS X79 DELUXE
CPU: i7 4820K
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LP Quad Channel 1866 MHz (CML16GX3M4A1866C9) 16 Gb (4x4Gb)
GPU: ASUS GTX 770 DC2OC
PSU: Corsair AX860
SSD: Samsung SSD 840 EVO Basic
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

I have as well uptated the BIOS with the latest version, and still the blue screen!!

Should the BIOS recognize automatically the 1866 MHz RAM? What can I do? Do I have to get better RAM?

Thank you very much in advance for your response!!

on the first asus biso screen make sure your mb running in standard mode. if not it changes the cpu/ram timing. in the dram speed set up set it to xmp set it to profile one. then beause your running four dimms bump the dram voltage to 1.65 or 1.7v see if it stable.

Thank you for yourt answer!

I have tried all of this settings. I start from standard settings and only change XMP profile on RAM but it also changes some CPU settings (set to boost mode 3.9GHz) but the blue screens keep coming.

I have tried to put more volts writting the RAM speed and timings manually and for the moment no blue screens, but when I shut down the PC it will reboot and sometimes a BIOS error will appear (Overclocking error on BIOS boot).

Is it normal that the RAM speed has to be changed manually? It should be automatic recognize??

The latest i7 4820K with his motherboard is supposed to run at 1866 MHz without overclocking (written in both specs...)

Thank you for your time!!

Hello!

I have set my bios to XMP profile and it looks that the blue screen will not appear. But now a new problem came. When I Shut Down the windows it will reboot, or get frozen with the black screen when it is supposed to turn off.... Very strange!!

Please help!!! Is it normal that I have to set XMP profile in order to run my RAM at 1866 Mhz? When the MoBo (X79 chipset), CPU and RAM are supposed to be ready for 1866Mhz without overclocking...

Please help me!!! Thanks!

yes it is normal for the MoBo to automatically set the RAM at a lower speed and as for the problems i wouldn't know what to do so keep this thread open incase anyone can help you with the problems

Ok Thanks!

I have installed Windows 8.1 64bit and all the problems seem to be solved.

It is very strange that with windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, the PC would restart instead of turning off when ram set to 1866Mhz.

If anyone has an answer I would appreciate!
