There's a sale right now [In India]
I'm getting MSI NVIDIA N760 TF 2GD5/OC for 338$[Original price = 360$] [Sale is only for 4days]
Zotac 760 AMP edition 322$ [Original price 338$]
650ti boost 2gb for 209$ [Original price 221$]

The R9-270X/280X hasn't been launched in India yet but according to previous trends their approximate value will be 30% more expensive that the US pirce i.e 273$ and 403$
respectively [These prices are a guess, they can be less/more expensive]

So which will be my best bet ?
1. Wait for cards to be released and know the final price [it can take upto/more than 1 month for the card - will use iGPU till then]
2. Buy the 760 right now
3.Buy the 650ti boost now then buy the 20nm gpu next year
4.R9-280X is worth the extra 40-60$ so go for that?
5. Any other options?

Also i dont want to play each and every game on absolutely maxed-out ultra settings, i just want them to look beautifull at 1080p [I'm guessing High settings = beautifull and very high/ultra = I wont be able to notice difference from high]

I'm leaning towards nVidia for PhysX and Leaning towards AMD for Mantle! [If i go for 650ti boost all my problems can be solved since i can buy a new gpu in 13months
If i buy anything excpet the 650ti boost i wont be able to upgrade for atleast 2 years

Also i want to be able to play all the next gen games possible!

Solution
wow thats expensive, the 280x is essentially a 7970 so it will last longer than the 760 in running games at high-ultra. The 650 ti boost was intended for games to be played at high ish settings at 1080p, though you can always tweak some settings around to get performance/quality that you like. How is the 280x priced?

If you waited till next year to upgrade, both Nvidia and AMD will be releasing legitimate GPUs with new tech rather than rebrands :|

7970 = 480$ here lol.

So what's my best bet?
How long will the 650ti boost last at mid-high settings [most of the settings to high including textures ] ?
Also how long will 760 last at high settings?
Also how long will R9-280X last at high settings? [not very hgih]

can you please explain me why it would be a good idea? :)

The 280X will be around 400$ [It hasn't been released in India yet, it may take upto a month more]
How long do you think the 650ti / 760 / R9-280X last me on Highish settings 1080p ?
If the 650ti will last me for 13-15months more at highish settings then that would be my best bet?
But if the 760 will last me for around 20-25months at a highish settings then that would be more Value for money! [It's 120$ more expensive than 650ti boost]
And R9-280X should atleast last me for 30-35months only then it's value will be justified [ it will be 75$ more expensive than 760, 195$ more expensive than 650ti boost]

Also it's not an upgrade it's my first computer.. Currently running on Intel HD4600 :p

What about a 7870 or 7950? They are both GCN based GPUs and performace should increase once mantle is done.

Yeah, AMD's mantle would sound like a good bet

The 650 ti boost technically should last you a year or so at high ish settings at 1080p, I meant that if you stuck with the cheaper 650 ti boost and upgraded in 13 months it would probably be better than getting one of the current higher-middle end cards since new tech would be introduced

The 760 would be your best bet, with the prices you listed for India that is a somewhat of a good deal. The 760 in some games preforms like a 7970 and it is most of the time beats the 7950. The 650ti boost sadly will not last you for next gen titles so you should get the 760.

LOL that is an extremely safe comment but ultimately very misleading. The 760 doesn't compare to the 7970, let alone the 280x which performs closer to a 7970 GHz Edition. The 280x is a far superior card.

Overall the 760 performs better than the 7950 at stock but if you're comfortable with overclocking, the 7950 will be the more powerful card.

Update:
The cards you listed rank as 280x > gtx 760 > 270x > 650 TI

Personally, I would pay the small premium for the 280x, the extra performance justifies the increase in price. If you really just don't want to pay that much, then the gtx 760 is still a solid card.

760 will last me 2 years on highish settings?
Then what about 280X ?

The problem is not the budget , it's just that i dont like spending so much money on 1 thing and i'm kind of like a VFM guy..
So which will be the best VFM ? [I'm guessing 760 according to what you all told?] But then some people say 280X it's worth the extra 60bucks.. so confused :(

Considering in Mind the following criterias:

760 vs 280X

Epic nVidia Drivers vs Good Amd drivers [+1 to nVidia]
High PhysX vs Low PhysX [+1 to nVidia]
Possibility of mantle vs Sure mantle [+1 to AMD]
40-60$ cheaper vs 40-60$ expensive [+1 to nVidia]
2gb Vram vs 3gb vram [+1 to AMD]
Good performance vs Epic performance at 1080p [+1 to AMD]
-------------------------
Points--> nVidia : 3 AMD: 3

What to do so confused?

In regards to drivers Nvidia's 320.xx and latest drivers have been a bit dodgy haha, but comparing the 280x to the 760 is not really a fair test in terms of performance, just comes down to how much you are willing to spend for that extra bit of performance :|

My mom tells me to go for the R9-280X [She says buy the newest , coz it will last longer]
But my father says to buy the 660 [230$ , 20$ more than 650ti boost] and upgrade it next year?

Hard to guess how much tech will progress but Nvidia's 800 Maxwell series is coming next year and we'll see how good the new tech is, the 280x price is a bit high, and I can't guarantee how it will fare against a middle-high end GPU from the 800 series (the decision is still yours though). In regards to the 660 vs the 650ti boost, check out this comparison and decide if the benefit is worth the money

Hello.
Could you wait for a bit?
GTX760 seems to be your best option atm but (price/performance and if you go for MSI GTX760 HAWK you will probably have the same performance as a stock R9 280X at the same price), But! Today is the launch day of R9 290 and R9 290X. Prices might go really down for both sides (you can already found a $132 (without MIR) o/ced GTX650ti boost 2GB!!!!), so I suggest you should wait a bit. I doubt GTX760 price could go any higher anyway.... And R9 280X probabbly coming to India so just wait :).

Newegg links are not the price in India bro :)
In India prices dont drop often, they usually stay the same for 1.5-2 years before dropping
7870 is still 290$ in india
7950 still 390$
7970 still 480$

Anyways you are right, waiting seems to be my best bet atm [even though theres a sale now, it isnt worth the risk]

Same happens to my country. Cheapest 650 ti boost 2GB is from Gigabyte at 155 Euros = 209.932 US$.
I just linked the newegg to show you smthng that was at $169 MSRP, now it stands at $40 less cause of the price drop effect that Rx series brought to the market. The price drops will arrive in India too but later than US' (like in my country too :p).

edit: 7870 at $270 :p

@acid buy a gtx 760 from flipkart they are currently having a diwali cyber sale
use a std charted debit card to get 15% +5% discount so it would cost you around 19.5k the problem with waiting for nvidia's/AMD's next gen cards is that they wont probably be launched till august next year in india
i too am planning on bying a gtx 760 this week
