Looking for answers to Mobo upgrade questions

I just placed an order for a new motherboard. I know I will need to clean install my OS after installing the new motherboard. That I know. Some things I don't know though. I don't know what I will do because I have a SSD boot drive and a 1Tb storage drive.
Do I need to format the storage drive after re installing the OS? Or will the storage drive work fine the way it is? I already know to not have it plugged into the mobo while installing the OS to the SSD. And I am guessing that the directories that I have moved from the current C: drive ie. Pictures, downloads, documents etc... will need to be erased, that is, if I don't need to reformat the storage drive. If it does need reformatted then I will just proceed from a clean install like I did already once before with the current setup.
Another question is that- will I need to use the Secure Erase for my Samsung SSD or can I trust Windows to delete the partition from the install options?

Any other tips or help might be good.
I might be forgetting something important.

your storage drive should be absolutely fine. dont worry about that at all. and as long as you do a clean reformat of your SSD, everything should be erased on it currently, and it should be good to go for installing your OS again. just make sure you have your windows key for your re-install.
