How much RAM is needed to install windows OS?

Basically I just ordered a new rig and the RAM isn't going to arrive until a few days after everything else does(thanks amazon) anyways I have a single stick Kingston memory which I believe is below 1000mhz(some where around 333mhz) willl I be able to atleast install windows with just that? I'm considering going down to some of the local computer shops and see if I can pick up a used stick of some better ram and try that.

    Depends on what OS you're installing, for Windows 7 64-bit it's 2GB: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/system-requirements
  2. if it ddr3 ram and not ddr-2 windows xp and higher you can install with one two g ram stick. xp min is 512megs for min system needs.
  3. Yeah if it's 1GB+, it doesn't take much to install Windows. Using it is a different story.
  4. Yea i'm certainly going to have to figure something else out or just be patient. at least ram is like the last item you can install in your machine before powering on for the first time so it won't be so bad. Thanks everyone. Just found my model online and this is some old school stuff 184 pin lol.
