I have an Iomega 4TB Dual Drive RAID enclosure and the drive is no longer recognized by my computers running either XP or w8. I took the drives out and tried them in an eSATA dock, and the drives are coming up as unallocated. Is there something else I need to do after I break the raid set ? Any suggestions on recovering the data ?

All the Iomega NAS devices I have worked on use Linux Software RAID. So connecting the drives to Windows will not work.
What you can do is attach the drives to your desktop PC and then boot up a Linux Live boot CD. If the drives are sound it should detect your RAID automatically.
