I recently linked a Medialink wireless N router up to my Linksys E1550 router to extend the connection. I have the second router (Medialink) connected with an ethernet on the other side of the house. I connected the wire to a lan port instead of the wan, also I changed the ip address of the 2nd router to be similar so the only difference between the two is one ends with .1 and .151 when the linksys' range is to .150
I had it like this for 2 days and now all of a sudden im having all of these issues with my internet and I'm not sure if comcast is messing up or not, i dont see any outages on my account and im at a standstill
also i turned off the DHCP router off my 2nd router i followed a set of instructions on how to use the second router as a repeater
the SSIDs are different but the passwords are the same

any help would be appreciated
also the problems with internet include:
network saying limited or no access
network printer not working
network randomly disappearing
Primary router wont connect to computer but secondary will
and much more

Solution
Did you enter the .151 address in both the Medialink that is in AP mode and in the Linksys with the Medialink MAC address to make it a static device?

Use the same SSID, same security type, same password, but a different radio channel (selecting from 1, 6, and 11) for each.

An LAN to LAN connection is correct, and DHCP should be off in the AP as you have done.

I'm sorry but what is AP mode I did change the channels on them yesterday because of the problems. I have the first router on 6 and the 2nd on 1
So do you want me to make their mac adresses the same?

If the DHCP in the router is off, the wireless radio is on, and it is attached LAN to LAN it is in AP (access point) mode. What I mean is that you have to set the address of .151 in both the Medialink and in the Linksys. In the Linksys to set a static address you have to enter the MAC address of the Medialink along with the .151 address you want.
