As I am upgrading from a laptop, I will need to get a monitor (1920x1080 or more). Any advice picking a good one would be much appreciated.

The video guide I used was helpful but left a few things to consider:
- differences in UK pricing vs US might make some parts worse value
- outdated - from May.
- according to comments (oh god I'm going on youtube comments), the motherboard he chose (Gigabyte GA-970A-D3) doesn't match up with the case's front-facing USB 3.0 slots. I just picked one from the most popular list on amazon, which I believe does support the feature, but I'm very open to alternate suggestions. For this and every other category!

Thanks in advance

I would recommend a GTX 760 the direct successor to the GTX 660 Ti. As far as which monitor is for you all depends Response Rate

The response rate of an LCD monitor refers to how quickly each pixel on the screen can change color. The lower the response rate, the faster the screen updates. If you are playing fast-paced action game for example, where the images change quickly, if you're playing on a monitor with a slower response rate, you may experience what is known as "ghosting". Ghosting happens when the previous image displayed on the screen can still be seen as a blur for moments after the image has changed.

When choosing the best gaming monitor, the response rate is perhaps the single most important factor to consider. Ghosting and motion blur can ruin your overall gaming experience. The faster the response rate of your monitor, the less ghosting you will see.

I would say that an LCD with a response rate of 5ms is the minimum for gaming. Lower than 5ms is better of course (remember that the lower, the faster), and the very best gaming monitors on the market have extremely fast response rates such as 2ms and lower to avoid any ghosting/blur issues completely.

As you can see, when we add a decent monitor and keyboard, we're hitting that £900 max figure. So what I'm really hoping for is a substitution or two of the same or similar costs.

On the subject of the graphics card, the video I based this on recommended the 650Ti Boost - but given its bloated price here in the UK I was able to find the 660 for the same price. Am I right in thinking it's the better of the two?

Thanks for the monitor advice. This is a well-reviewed 24 inch 1920x1080 display with 2ms response time:

Yes you are correct the GTX 660 is better then a 650 ti boost edition and at the same price the choice is a no brainer.

Still new to this, but if I get the right motherboard I can add another pair of Vengeances at some point down the line, right?

Motherboard is what I'm most unsure of, because I basically picked it at random. The $650 gaming PC featured on this site uses the MSI 970A-G43 ATX, which is a little cheaper. Would it be better?

You can add more ram later yes.As for motherboard No stick with asus for quality assurance.

Excellent, thank you.

One final question, unless anyone else chips in with a suggestion before I buy,

The Corsair 200R case is significantly more expensive in the UK at £56 (it's gone up already!) compared to the equivalent of £31 on Amazon US.

With this in mind, would I be better off getting something like the Zalman Z11 at £50?
