I have a P8P67 EVO mother board with a I5-2500k CPU not overclocked, and a 1,000 watt power supply. Recently when I try to hit the power button my my tower the Computer will not turn on. If I turn off my power supply and wait for the lights to turn off on my motherboard then turn the Power supply back on and then hit the power button on my tower the computer turns on without a problem. I am personally thinking that the Motherboard might be having the problem. Any suggestions to what it might be? My system is about 2 years old.

This may be as simple as a Power On switch button problem. The same problem happened to me some years ago. I had turn off/on the PSU so that PC could turn on successfully. But the problem happened for just 4-5 times and then disappeared.
In another case, a PC could turn on only after pushing the power button for about 20-30 times. I changed the Power Switch Connector Cable and the PC could turn on fine.
I'd recommend to try to turn on your PC directly by shorting the 2 Power ON Switch pins on mobo using a screwdriver.
ATTENTION! Do it only if you are familiar with your PC hardware. Touching the wrong place with the screwdriver can damage your computer.

Thank you for all of the replies.

@ Akashdeep I am not sure if I need to reapply paste, I use a water cooler and my CPU idles at 33-35 C and maxes out during gaming and more intense use at 48 C (max is around 60C). If the paste was dried or not working wouldn't my temperatures be much higher? I will update Bios and clear CMOS, it has been a while since I did that.

@ Tradesman1 It has been my experience with power supplies that they usually just die and give little to no warning but I have a KINGWIN Mach 1 ABT-1000MA1S 1000W ATX / BTX SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

@Noniboy I will give that a shot, but my MB has a on and reset button, so I will not have to worry about shorting anything. I also I will look at the cable for my tower.
