High Idle temperature, but fine when it's under stress

Ive had my computer for about a year now I have a i5 2500k with the stock cooler ( I know it's not the best thing to do but hey it worked until now)

Now today I started up my computer and it made a few beeping noises saying "CPU FAN ERROR""Press F1 to enter setup"

I decided to open up my computer and see if everything was connected as it should, I made sure everything was tight and I restarted my computer. This time the error message didn't come up but I decided to see the temperatures, It seemed like my CPU fan was running at 1300rpm idle with a CPU temperature of 85 degrees celcius with the cores being at around 40. I decided to do a stress test (launched battlefield 4 beta) and I realised my CPU fan speed increased to 2600 and my temperature dropped to around 52 degrees (with the cores still being at around 45~ish) if I would turn off my game my speed of my CPU fan would drop back to 1300 and my temperature would increase to 85 again. I tested this with SpeedFan, Real Temp and Core Temp only speedfan told me my CPU was at 85 and the cores at around 40, the other programs just told me my core temperature.

Now my question is is it safe to use my computer till my new cooler arrives or should I just wait? (it'can take up to 4 days for it to be delivered)

Thanks in advance,

Youri~

85C is high. 1) Maybe your PC case does not have good air ventilation. 2) Your room temp is high. 3) The dust inside your PC. 4) The bios setting for the fan controlling.
So you can open up the case side panel to let it cool down. Or go to the BIOS to change the setting.

Well that's what I did and it didn't change anything It just stays at 85 degrees when idle but I've been stressing it for about 20-30 minutes now and it's idle at 49 degrees (that is when im playing battlefield 4)

so my guess is that my sensors might me malfunctioning?

I don't know any tips would be appreciated, also I did clean up my pc a couple of days ago there wasn't to much dust in it since I clean it up regulary.

But thanks anyway.

Firstly I want to thank you for trying to help me out, I'll try out all the programs that I recently downloaded and post some screenshots down below (these are all idle temperatures btw)

These are the temperatures, Speedfan is the only program I found that tells me the temperature of my CPU and not just the cores, I'm not that familiar with computers hardware and stuff so I hope you guys could help me out

EDIT:
This is my temperature reading with speedfan while it's being stressed,

From the coretemp and hwmonitor results, your cpu temp is ok, 4 cores temp is around 44C-49C. I think you can forget about the speedfan readings for the 83C. The 83C was the high temp in some point. The readings is from 40-46C in the speedfan now. You are fine.
