I just bought and installed the Asus Maximus VI Hero. I plugged in my new SSD ( Samsung MZ-7TD250BW) then went into the BIOS settings, SATA configuration section, and the only SATA port that doesnt show empty is my DVD-ROM drive. I've updated the BIOS, tried plugging into different SATA ports, verified that AHCI mode is on, turned on hot plugs, and still nothing. The odd thing is I can see the drive as a boot option from the BIOS boot menu. I've been able to install an OS and everything appears to work fine but I still can't see the drive. Windows detects the drive but the Intel rapid storage technology doesn't see it either. Any help would be appreciated!

Is it plugged into the ASmedia or Intel ports currently? For the IRST drivers to see the drive, it would need to be on an Intel SATA port and not the ASMedia. It won't show on the Intel SATA ports in UEFI if it is plugged into the ASMedia ports.

Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure which port its plugged into. The manual was vauge on any difference between SATA ports. They all looked the same on the MB to me. I will check the Asus website for more information...

Thanks Praz-1 I found the Sata ports section.

I found a solution after playing with ports for awhile. I currently just have a DVDROM and the SSD plugged into the SATA ports. I unplugged everything and plugged the SSD into SATA port 1 (it had initially been in port 2). The BIOS detects the SSD. I enabled hotplug support and then powered down and plugged in my DVD-ROM. The BIOS still sees the SSD but not the DVD-ROM. Everything seems to work in Windows and Intel Rapid Storage Technology recognizes the SSD so I'm calling this a win. The DVD-ROM might be plugged into an ASMedia port so I will change that tonight. Thanks Raja@asus! :D
