Will the Cosair cx 500w psu work with my pc

This is my current computer only thing that has changed is the ram its now 8gb

As long as your case has the mounts for a standard ATX power supply and your motherboard supports 8-pin voltage and 24-pin power connectors you're good to go.

Should be fine, Compaq has used proprietary PSU before, but don't remember seeing anything on that model..

There should be no issues with a CX500 going into your tower , you may need a torx screwdriver to get the unit out.

With the dimensions of the CX500 it's a good choice.
