what do you think about i3 4340

Solution
Also, i3s are GREAT chips and are all MOST people need.

My little bro still has a i3 2120 pushing his GTX 660 ti and he maxes out most games on a pretty nice 1080p monitor. There is absolutely NO need for him to upgrade anytime soon.

I've been looking at it for a HTPC build and I bet it's a beast in most common tasks.

Haswell 3.6ghz cores would be great.

but...

It's overpriced. You can get a i5 4430 or 4440 for just $20 more, and there is NO reason to get it over the i3 4330. You're paying an extra $15-20 for 100mhz. Not worth it.

At least when you spend $15-20 to jump up from a 4130 to a 4330, you get 100mhz, more L3 cache, and HD 4600 instead of HD 4400.

That's why I think that the 4330 is easily the best value of the new i3s.

it fits. the i5 4430/4440 still ducks under $200 (currently listed at $190~$194) which is the sweet spot for a budget cpu plus it will whoop the i3's ass in everything. heck even amd's fx6300 whoops the i3's ass more often than not which makes it look a great buy but it cannot compare to an i5 in gaming. i5 4430/4440 is better if you take gaming serious but still want to save some money. you shouldn't skimp on your components too much as that will only end up wasting more money on upgrades down the line.
