xp updates fail

fresh install xp with service pack 2 installed service pack 3 downloaded latest windows download manager and installed, installed 133 updates without a hitch get to 3.5 framework and fails every time, wn't let me past it and I already installed it manually but windows still sees that it a missing update but won't install

try hiding the update. go to windows update and click check for updates. right click on this update and select hide update. is this the only update that wont install?

actually there were 3 but I manually installed all 3 but darn update won't let me past this one to update anything else, but I didn't try hiding the update.

Thanks for the help, I tried to hide that windows update but I still fails on all the rest of them, as I google my life away I see that there are thousands or more that have the same problem with xp updates. I think Microsoft sees a way to make killing as for $99.00 tech is sure it can fix it. Funny about the same price as 7.

if you google this problem you will find solutions. try some of the old microsoft forums. i had the same problem years ago,just cant remember what the fix was. if you want to keep xp i would backup any updates on a usb or the like as you wont see any from ms beyond early next year.

after fresh install of xp, update to ie8 then download the latest windows download manager, let windows update do it's thing. Never missed a beat including service pack 3. I think you could back peddle on an old install and system restore to where update still worked then download and install window download manager and update, hope this helps someone as I probably had 20 hours into making update work including 3 fresh xp installs.
