Hello,

I am going to update my laptop with an SSD.

If I have a copy of windows 7 home premium (which is what is currently installed on the laptop) but its a copy for my HTPC (as usual I did not get the disc with the laptop) not the laptop.

Can I install win 7 with that disc and use the code on the sticker that is on the laptop?

Or do I need to buy a new copy of windows in this instance?

The answer to this will also dictate which SSD I get.

You should be fine. That OS license key is tied to your laptops motherboard, so as long as you're installing that copy of Windows on that laptop, no matter what hdd/ssd, you should be fine.

Thank you.
