Solved Upgrading my laptop w/SSD, question about installing windows 7 home premium Tags: Laptops SSD Windows 7 Last response: October 15, 2013 2:06 PM in Windows 7 Share boogalooelectric October 15, 2013 10:48:43 AM Hello, I am going to update my laptop with an SSD. If I have a copy of windows 7 home premium (which is what is currently installed on the laptop) but its a copy for my HTPC (as usual I did not get the disc with the laptop) not the laptop. Can I install win 7 with that disc and use the code on the sticker that is on the laptop? Or do I need to buy a new copy of windows in this instance? The answer to this will also dictate which SSD I get. That OS license key is tied to your laptops motherboard, so as long as you're installing that copy of Windows on that laptop, no matter what hdd/ssd, you should be fine.
