Hi All,

I was wondering is it possible for me to upgrade to 16 or 32GB of ram and to install an SSD HD. I do some work on my PC nothing very taxing but I run some specific software and would like to see if upgrades would increase performance.

I see.. Multi tasking on 8gb of ram is way too much already. I have 8gb of ram but I've never seen it use over 4gb. While playing games, I play music, and has some facebook going on. The SSD would be a more viable upgrade for you if you feel that the speed lacks. And I'm guessing you can't upgrade your CPU anymore. You already have a desktop, so just upgrade to an SSD for your laptop. :)

If you're not doing so much taxing with it, I won't suggest you to upgrade to 16 or 32gb of ram. Unless you can see that your 8gb of mems are being fully utilized all the time.

It's better if you install an SSD. You'd notice the difference right away.

Thank you much adimeister,

Out of curiosity, why would one not want to upgrade to 16 or 32 gbs of ram. Would it be too taxing on my motherboard? I guess I could be more clear. I'm not taxing the computers often as I only use them when I travel for work, otherwise I use desktop. But when I do use them I do use most of the system resources. I do video editing, presentation creation and presenting and utilize mulitple monitors and views (not sure if that's a graphics card thing to upgrade). Anyway, I've been given carte blanche in regards to upgrading my systems and wanted to know if it was worth it to do upgrades or should I purchase a new laptop. These work fine as is.

16GB is fair enough(assuming you are on video/audio/graphics editing works).

But 32GB is not needed in most cases. If you have money, you can. But ask yourself, what will be the benefit of buying a car which you can't get a chance to ride? Things are like this on 32GB RAM issue.

But one cent from me, 16GB is the minimum now a days. Everybody running on Extreme profile.

And about SSD, it will give you a boost up the speed of OS & other important programs.
