Mainly replying to this for people who "google" search this type of thing in the future.

I just built a new system, and went with the BenQ XL2420TE 144Hz monitor... And, I was stuck at 60Hz for the last hour.. !

I was like hrmm..

First thing I did was manually install the drivers in the device manager. I didn't have your issue with "PNP Monitor".. I had Monitor: BenQ XL2420TE -- I put an Asus GTX 780 in this machine as well, so I thought surely nothing is limiting this monitor.

I originally connected it via HDMI...

My guess is that you have one of Asus's 7970's. They often have physical switch which you need to flip on order to enable 120hz (more accurately enable the bandwidth needed to the DVI port). Also, of there are more than two DVI ports on your card, make sure you are using the Dual Link DVI port.

I originally connected it via HDMI.

Then I thought about it,.. and switched to the DVI cable the monitor came with... but still no option.

I finally looked at the specs on the Nvidia 780's ports and Saw that I had the DVI cable in the "DVI-I" port.. not the "DVI-D" port on the Graphics card. (As was mentioned in this thread!)

I switched,.. went back into ---> Screen Resolution --> Advanced Settings (In Windows 8.1) -- and Magically the 1920x1080@120hz and 1920x1080@144Hz popped up to select.

I selected them,.. and BUTTER!

Man, the input is SO smooth.. 120hz+ is worth it EVEN just for 2D and web-browsing, etc. It's easier on the eyes, and everything is so crisp, your mouse moves like it's floating on top of silky glass. :)

I highly recommend this monitor,.. it's more than I imagined,.. I paid $290 "on sale"... which is fairly high for a 24" LCD .. but not insane. This thing is super nice. Well built -- Has Tilt which goes up and downward. Has rotation side to side... Has About 12-14 inches of up and down adjustment (that doesn't take any tools).

It has that neat control pad with the buttons and mouse wheel to go through the menu (of the monitor).. and set presets..and so on.

It feels solid, looks like a million bucks -- and the power On,.. and menu functions are touch screen but not ON the screen they are on the slim bezel around the monitor.. Works well.

If you are contemplating a 120Hz or better monitor (or a 3D monitor) -- This is the one. Specifically the BenQ XL2420TE (24", 144Hz, 3D Monitor -- Native resolution @ 1920x1080.. not that silly 1650x1080, or 1440x900 etc..)

Hey, it's cheaper already -- $279 with free shipping --

I promise I get no money if you buy one of these lol.

Anyhow.. if you are stuck at 60hz.. Try finding your DVI-D port on the graphics CARD,.. and make sure you are using a DVI-D cable, etc. Drivers don't hurt. ;)
