Hey guys first of all i do not know the first thing about monitor resolutions. I dont understand if resolution is the amount of pixels or just the sharpness of the image it confuses me.

Anyway i need to pick a monitor for a new gaming build and i need a monitor around 23 or 24 inches and i am a real stickler about graphics and sharpness and color and all that. I really like to be immersed in the gaming experience and i need to know whether i should get a 1920 x 1080 or a 1920 x 1200. Some people say 1080 is fine while others say 1200 is the only way. What do you guys think?

Bare minimum is 600x800. And I think it goes down lower. Everyone games at 1080p because it is the best possible for your card. Higher res isn't recommended because your card isn't extremely high end. Higher than 1080p is over doing it and it doesn't give any less of an advantage than 1200 does.

Ive heard that but ive also heard from a lot of ppl that 1080p is the standard for hdtvs and if you use 1080p for a monitor then you are not getting the best potential for gaming. Remember im not looking for bare minimum here. I dont need 2560x 1440 or whatever but i want the best possible graphics for a single monitor and single gtx 660 ti.

I appreciate your answers and im not dismissing them i just dont want to necessarily just accept the first answer without questions ya know? Anyway i dont mean that 1080 is bad i just mean i heard for a monitor its a really wide res and it feels like things are being cut off. And my stepbro has a card not as good as the 660 ti and he has a 1200 and its perfectly fine theres no problems with it. Im gonna upgrade my gpu when i get some more money anyway so if the 660 ti handles 1200 fine then i dont wanna hafta upgrade my gpu AND my monitor wen i can already have the better monitor and just upgrade my gpu. I hope that makes sense
