This is probably the fault of the wireless adapter you are using on the desktop. What do you have in each computer for wireless adapters?
This happened to me when I tried to go cheap and got one of those tiny Belkin usb dongles.

The mac is using the built in wifi in it (late 2010 mac book pro 13in) the desktop is using a WDN4800 (http://www.tp-link.com/en/products/details/?model=TL-WD...)

I did a little digging and I've noticed that some people have similar problems and the commonality seems to be Windows 8. Both your router and card are obviously very good. I personally have noticed that Macs seem to do very well when it comes to WiFi but we're talking a big difference.

I'm sure that you have the newest drivers for the card. Were there any troubles while installing per chance?

Your router couldn't have some weird QoS setting that is automatically putting more bandwidth to the Mac for some reason?

The Drivers installed just fine, and the QoS on my router is disabled

You wouldn't happen to have another Windows desktop around that you could test the card on?

Have you gone to http://www.speedtest.net/ just to see if it is not your OS giving a false reading?

Can you test both computers wired speeds?

Perhaps there is some motherboard driver that could be updated, PCI-e to PCI-e bridge or something?

Sorry if I'm reaching here, I know that this would bug me and I wouldn't be able to let it go.

Anyone else, have some ideas?
