best cpu and motherboard for gaming

ok i need to update my componants and not sure .from what i read everyone says for gaming and im a huge gamer that 2011 socket is a waste.i have a full tower atx case i leaning towards an Asus motherboard and want to try and get the best i can afford but if the best 1155 is as good for gaming as the 2011 for now ill go with 1155 just need some advice.i would like to keep it under 1000 dollars us i have everything but motherboard and cpu not sure about overclocking probably not
