Hey guys,
So I've build a HTPC for my old dad, and he's oldschool and has all of his music on CD. Therefore, he got abit disappointed about the HTPC didn't actually have a optical drive. But what optical bays are actually fitting into the Antec ISK310-150 case. It's a slimfit bay.. Will a laptop drive fit by any chance? Suggestions are welcome.. It just needs to be a DVD drive.

Regards

Just chiming in with my own experience,

The ISK 310-150 power supply comes with the proper power connector for a slim drive. No power adapter needed, and yes the SATA connector is the same as a standard desktop connector. I built a small setup with the 310-150 and used an LG CT21N for the optical drive. Works great.

You are correct.

However, the few drives present seemed to have issues:
Samsung - quite a few complaints for the model listed
Lite On - possibly a better choice though one guy listed the EJECT didn't work

A mention was made of an ADAPTER but it appears that's for working with laptops not a desktop as the PICTURE shows the regular SATA connectors in the rear.

*You may need a SATA data cable.

I must say that these optical drives truly looks like the ones in a laptop (the 7 pin data and 6 pin power). Will a standard optical bay from a laptop fit into a slimline bay?

Of the few choices I thought the Lite On was better. Read all the customer reviews. There's an LG from TigerDirect with no reviews and a Samsung but the Samsung was the same one that had poor reviews at Newegg.

I looked at the pictures and assumed the SATA data and power connections were normal desktop ones.

They all say "notebook" but I'm guessing they PHYSICALLY fit the case?
