I find myself in this dilemma that i should replace my newly bought HD 7870 GPU for something more future proof in a way. Im using a i5 3570k with a 650w 80+ gold Psu and a average MOBO p877zvlk w 8GB RAM. Maybe this card will satisfy all my future needs and wants Im just not sure as im brand new to pcs in general. While buiding my PC i didnt have PC gaming as a priority( because i couldnt see myself not playing platformers with a keyboard and mouse and that adding a controller would be complicated for me with all the configurations and such) and just wanted something decent incase i actually gave it a try so i googled "what gpu is equivenlent to next gen consoles " and got the 7870. Now i find myself replacing one of the consoles ( xbox 1 ) with my PC for a platform as i select 3rd party games depending on community and exclusives. With gaming on my pc as a priority now i feel i should have gone with a better card but not sure what to go with.In the future i just want to not feel the urge to want something else, and giving The fact that im already feeling this way has me unsettle. I have my pc hooked up to my HD 1080p TV so it will be one screen at 1920x1080p resolution.

If i should beef up my card a bit im in between the 7970 and the gtx770 but also taking suggestions from anyone. If i shouldnt please try and take the time out to ease my mind on the subject. Im one of those guys who likes to have the best thats needed but doesnt like to over due it. If i want a car i want a nice decent one or no car at all no buckets just because it gets the job done. Hope that helps.

do you still play games on high or ultimate settings? if so, dont worry about it, and if youre worried about that card becoming obsolete, worry about it when that actually happens, then for the price youre planning to buy a 7970 now, you could get something even better then.. best to upgrade when its actually necessary, otherwise youre just wasting money

I'm not sure . The bf4 beta I had it on ultra but like I said I'm new. I just put together my PC a month ago and all I read around is the 7870 can't max out crisis 3 and another game it can't max out so I feel I would run into that in the future and don't mind taking the L and swapping. This whole benchmark thing is new to me so not sure if I'm reading them right other then "higher is better " or " lower is better " for power consumption not sure what it all means.
