Hi everyone,

I'm learning a lot by asking questions on this forum. You guys answer fast and help me every time. So with that being said, I would like to ask, yet another question. I am interest in getting the XL2420T 24 inch BenQ monitor, as it's one of the best gaming monitors out there. However, not every game I play will be able to get 120 frames at 120Hz, especially like Battlefield 4 and newer up coming games. So, my question is, since I won't be playing with V-Sync on my frames can continue to raise past 60 FPS, will I notice a difference in framerate when it goes from say 120 (MAX) down to 80 then back up to 90, then down to 60? I want the 120Hz screen but the only benefit is if I can run the game at 120 FPS at 120Hz. If I set my screen to 120Hz and I'm not constantly getting 120FPS, will I notice a sort of stutter going from various FPS's? I hope you guys understand what I'm trying to get out here. Let me know what you guys think!

EDIT: Also, I don't need the whole your eyes can't see past 60 FPS speech because that's completely false, as your eyes don't see in frames and 60 FPS to 120FPS is a noticable difference. :D

My System:
i7-3770 @3.4GHz
16GB DDR3 RAM @1600MHz
EVGA GTX 680 SLI

You're going to be capped at 120Hz with the 680's for a long time. But V-Sync at higher frame rates should be less annoying than 60 to 30.

I'm pushing above 100 FPS with a 7970 and an i7 2700K at 4.6Ghz on a Samsung SA700 (120Hz), but haven't turned on V-Sync at all.

Anyway, going with a 120Hz mon is a good idea no matter how you go around it, specially for SLI'd or CF'ed set ups.

Cheers!
based on experience (i own s27a950d, sexy beast), no, if you hit 80 and above, that is smooth already. of course your eyes can be more sensitive than mine (yes i can see the improvement of >60fps).
if it goes below 60 esp in the 30's or below then it will be obvious. But above 60, not so much.

of course if it dips, even for just a sec, then you will notice it.
with that, it's worth it, go ahead and buy.
