Transfering hard drives with diferent versions of windows.

Hey guys

I have an old PC with windows XP and I want to transfer the hard drive into my current computer which runs on windows vista. My old HDD contains a bunch of photos and files I wish to save. Assuming the hardware is compatible could there be any issues software wise?I really do not want to loose anything to a bug or corrupt any of the files.

Unless the hardware is identical it won't work. If you want to save files off of the old drive then simply place it in a USB enclosure and attach it externally.

You should be able to just mount it using a SATA cable as a storage drive. Your Windows XP apps won't run on Vista, but your photos will be fine and accessible.
