Hey guys,

I just got a new Mobo and RAM and it's giving me some issues.

Here are my parts:
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Processor
Radeon R7750 Core Edition GPU
Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB 1600mhz RAM
Corsair CX430 PSU
MSI 970A-G46 Mobo
Samsung 840 120gb SSD

Windows 7 SP1 is installed.

What's going on is, before I got the new Corsair Vengeance RAM I had one stick of 2gb Corsair RAM and my screen kept freezing for a few seconds at a time and when that would happen I would check Hardware Monitor and I would have less than .1 GB of RAM available, so I assumed I needed more RAM and I had planned on getting some anyways, so I did.

So now I got the Corsair Vengeance RAM and put it in tonight, but on my board I have a DIMM 1 and 3 and a DIMM 2 and 4. In my book for my mobo it says to use 2 and 4 first, so I put the RAM in DIMM 2 and 4 like it states in the manual and it only recognizes 4gb. So I took one stick out of DIMM 4 and put it in DIMM 1, making DIMM 1 and DIMM 2 active and then it recognizes all 8gb. I also tried to put a stick in DIMM 1 and a stick in DIMM 3 and it only recognizes 4gb then too. My issue is that the manual says to use 2 and 4 first, but not only that, if I use 2 and 1, then it won't be using Dual Channel. Since the RAM kit is Dual Channel, I would imagine that this is no good and I'm either harming the RAM or mobo or not getting all the performance out of the RAM that I should be.

I have the RAM set to 1600mhz in the BIOS, I'm not overclocking, I have the latest BIOS installed. I have looked, but can;t really find anything online about this issue. Can you guys help at all?

Solution
i see that your possessor supports
The number of controllers: 1
Memory channels: 2
Channel width (bits): 72
Supported memory: DDR2-1066, DDR3-1333
DIMMs per channel: up to 2
on ddr 3 it supports up to 1333 so under clock the memory in the BIOS
and see if it works on slot 2 and 4.

Alright I'll try that when I get home and see if it works.
