Hello gurus!

I have a question about gaming performance! My current setup is:

AMD FX-6100
XFX Radeon HD 7970 3gb OC to max
Silver Power SP-S850 850W PSU
Crucial DDR3 BallistiX Sport 1600MHz 8GB
Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3, Socket-AM3+

Is my CPU holding back FPS in my gaming performance? Would i get higher FPS by upgrading to AMD FX-8350?

Thanks!

The 8350 would be around 25/30% better, the 6300 would already be an improvement, but if you are going to improve might aswell go for the 8350. And also get a good cooler for it, like 212 evo or around that line. The stock fan is quite loud.

actually u will!
The new generation games, all can use 8 cores, even crysis 3 which is was older than names like bf4 and stuff is working with 8 cores.
im working with an 8320 and 8350 both overclocked, and they both are running at very high utilization.
But in most cases, playing the older game generations with a 6 core of amd the games just use 4 cores. thats the bottleneck of amd-systems.
so here is the question for you, are u looking forward to play the new gen games?
then u might think about an upgrade to the new 9000 amd generation, coz the difference in price between an 8350 and the low 9000 isnt that high

im mainly gonna play battlefield 4 and crysis 3, and im sure ill buy some new games that come out soon. if im to buy the 9000 im gonna need a new motherboard aswell since mine dont support that CPU according to www.komplett.no

But will 850w PSU be enough for radeon hd 7970 max overclocked, AMD FX-9590 and http://www.komplett.no/k/ki.aspx?sku=759445 ?

Don't bother getting the FX 9590 because it's just an overclocked FX 8350. Just get an FX 8350 and a Hyper 212 Evo or good watercooling and overclock it. The FX 9590 is not worth all that trouble of changing your motherboard and stuff and at that point I would just go with an intel Core i7 processor rather than the 9590.

Oh and by the way... I just checked and the FX 9370 and 9590 is supported by your motherboard. http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/list.aspx?SLanguage=...

You might want to actually go with the FX 9370 because it comes with a decent watercooler and that combined with the speed bump makes it worthwhile. Of course I'm not sure what prices are like in your country but the FX 9370 is only $90 extra here than the FX 8350. I think the FX 9370 is worthwhile now but not the FX 9590.

you will be fine, but u should wait for the new package of the fx 9370, amd will offer an own wc-system.
so it might be worth to wait for the Offizial news ;)
else u have to keep in mind the TDP of the 8350 is lower than an 9370 so keep that in mind.
850w psu will be easily enough. 9370 with 7970 ruffly get around 500w with max usage?
add another 50-100w for the other parts and u are at 600, so it will definitly be enough.

nvidia acutally recommends 750w psu's for 2 graka's :)

ever thought of buying a FX 8320 and overclocking it? it might not yield the same OC result of FX 8350 but the sweet pricing makes up for that.
