sata ports question

hey guys im planning to get the asrock b75m itx mobo soon and it seems that it only has 4 sata ports 1 sata3 and 3 sata2's although this wouldve been enough for what i initially plan on doing.

i want to burn CDs or DVDs and wondered if i need another sata port for that? i will be using the sata3 port on the b75m for an ssd and the two sata2 ports on two HDDs and the last one for an optical drive. so, would i need one more port to be able to burn CDs?

No. The lone SATAII port you have for your Optical Drive will be enough (assuming only one optical drive).

thank you! i am so relieved but how would that work exactly? i plug in my optical drive and then what?

Not sure what you're trying to do. If you're looking to copy one CD to another CD, then two drives would make things easier, but if you only have one drive, you would copy the data from the CD to the Hard Drive and then from the Hard Drive to a blank CD.

no, not exactly. i am going to be exporting videos i edit or music files i record onto a cd.

Ok. Then once you've completed the edit (on your hard drive), just burn the contents to the CD/DVD Drive.

thank you. one last question though would i need anything else other than an optical drive to burn CDs?

No. Just the software. Depending on what you're doing, Windows included software is enough for most people.
