Hi,

My old gpu has recently given up on me and been looking for a new one for a decent price. The one which I'm after is the MSI HD 7970 Lightning BOOST edition, but I was wondering would a 600W psu be enough to power it and what type of connector does it use? Is it 2x6 pin or 2x8 pin connectors?

If it uses a 2x8 pin connector and would need a better psu, would you be able to recommend me a new gpu for anywhere between the price of £150-£450 which uses a 2x6 pin connector?

Thanks,

Luke

Mine has two 8-pin :(
And if OP's PSU doesnt have 42 amps minimum, then he's done for. Its pre-OCed right?

Mine is the ASUS DC2 7970 @1230MHz core/1244Mv and 6GHz on mem. I blew a 600W PSU within 4 days(OCZ ModXStream 600W PSU). Take care of your hot OCed card, and dont choke it of power like I did.

Wow, that's a screamer, i've not seen many GPU's go that high and be stable...i haven't pushed my 7970 past it's 1050MHz base clock yet...haven't seen the need.
