Chieftec Super Series 650W PSU
MSI P55-CD53, P55, Socket-1156, DDR3
Intel Core? i7 Quad Processor i7-860
Zalman CNPS10X Quiet CPU Cooler
Kingston ValueR. DDR3 1333MHz 4GB, CL9,
Crucial DDR3 BallistiX Tactical 8GB KIT

Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 3GB GDDR5

I overclocked my cpu from 2,8ghz to 3,8ghz ran prime95, but it wouldnt give 100% load, so I decided to use Intel Burn Test. The first 7 or so tests went fine, but then it crashed. I tried clearing the CMOS, both by jumper and taking out the battery. When I try to start up the computer it doesnt even seem to try startup. Only fans start up for a second or so, then shuts down.

Solution

Yeah sounds like a good idea, 650W will be fine.

I reached 75 at maximum.
x22
vcore: 174
It might very well be a bad OC, as im all new, and overdid it. The cpu should be able to handle it though, so im thinking maybe motherboard or PSU?

Try leaving the BIOS battery out for awhile, 30 minutes +
Check all the cables are correctly seated and check for burn marks and blown caps
Disconnect anything non-essential for post, try posting with just one stick of RAM, no DVD drive ETC...

If after all that it still wont post you might be looking at a damaged component. (CPU, motherboard, PSU....)

Tried leaving the battery out for 2 hours, with different ram (one at a time). Disconnected harddisks and DVDdrive. Still nothing.
I dont get any beeps either(dont know if I have speaker for that)
on the motherboard there is four lights which says cpu-phase 1-4, they all light up.
How should i proceed to check what is damaged?
thanks for the help this far, appreciated

Hmmm ok, Does your motherboard have a debug LED? also could you check your motherboard's manual to see if those lights being on is normal?
Do you have another power supply you can test with your PC or perhaps borrow one from a friend or family member?

The led lights is for power mode, so it is supposed to light up. (Gets through different stages or something).
I dont think it has debugled, couldnt find anything in the manual. I dont have any powersupply, and most of my friends only got laptops. If i get hand on another pc, is it only to plug out everything, and plug in my motherbord etc? Or should one try one component at a time?
