Hey all. I just put in a REVO 3 x2 480GB into my ASROCK Z77PRO3 Motherboard. 2nd Slot (x8) and when I boot it reads on the BIOS x2 5GB then on the next screen it reads 2x FAST 6/GB/s SATA.

Drive seems to work fine, but on webpage access it starts to slow down, almost not loading content.

I was unable to DL books to my Kindle for PC app, either they would DL fast and then not load, or I would have to reboot the PC, then they would download slow, but load.

I have notices pages taking a long time as well. Everything else seems fast. System books fast, drive has the newest firmware and Bios. I did an image from a SATA drive to it using Acronis and injected drivers, that worked like a charm, no issues with the clone. I updated the windows chipset drivers.

I have my video card in the first slot, specs on the motherboard are:

Any suggestions on what I can do?

Here is a screenshot of the speeds I am getting with an app that looks like it is used a lot to benchmark these.

Hi Dereck,

Thanks for posting.

The first thing I did was make sure I had the newest version of the drivers on my system and I was using the x65 drivers per my Windows 7 being the x64 version

The second thing I did was to update the MB BIOS. I had BIOS version 1.90 on the MB. I updated to version 2.10; no change.

I checked the Firmware and BIOS on the card, they are both current (the card just arrived from OCZ Tuesday.

I have dropped support notes to both ASROCK and OCZ, awaiting any information I might get from them.

Seems to me that the 2nd PCIE slot I am using (is a x4 slot) must be sharing bandwidth with something, but I can't determine which or what. I am using all the available USB ports, but I can't determine which might be shared bandwidth with the second PCIE slot, reducing it from running x4 to x2.

In your BIOS there’s a setting called "PCIE 2 Link Speed". The default value is "Auto". Try changing it to another value. Maybe start with the highest value? If your video performance is decreased (if you’re a gamer) by changing the value you can always change it back to "Auto".

See page 53 of your motherboard manual.

I tired that as well. It has:
AUTO
GEN1
GEN2
GEN3
I tried GEN3 and Auto, I can try the others, but I didn't think it would make a difference, though I could be wrong, will try.

No change on GEN1 or GEN2 :(

No problem, Thanks for trying. Never hurts to get another perspective. I with I could figure out if the USB or something was pulling bandwidth from it. I can't imagine it is the video card in slot one that is the cause.

The slot is listed as a x4 so the device should run at that speed but if it is sharing it with something, like the external USB HD or something then that could be the cause but I can't find out anything on this specific chipset doing that.

Most of them, I had not done the Write Cache for both options, though it didn't seem to make a difference.

I ended up swapping the SSD into PCI Slot 1 and I got the correct speed and much improved benchmarks, but now I am sure my video card is suffering performance impacts because it is only running at x2.

Unless the manufacturer can come up with a BIOS to address this issue and at least get their 2nd slot to run at x4 like it is supposed to, I am going to have to purchase another motherboard that is recommended compatible from OCZ.

Unless ASROCK can create a BETA BIOS to address their Second PCI-e x4 slot only running at x2 then I guess I will have to purchase a new MB.

And since this is for work I am going to have to come up with an excuse to justify it.

Any suggestions on MB's for an Socket 1155; 3.50 gigahertz Intel Core i7-3770K, with a chipset close enough that I won't destroy windows when I swap the MB's out (I do not, cannot (well I can if I have to, but it'll be a nightmare) reinstall Windows because I have so many programs that have to be registered and are registered based on hardware components).

Maybe a board with 3 slots, two x16 and one x8 or something with more bandwidth. Here is the list of 'compatible' boards from OCZ.
