CPU RAM or Graphics card problem causing game crashes?

HI, i recently built a computer using old parts from friends systems, and have been having some problems with unexplained crashes in the games I play (dota 2 and Borderlands 2)
Dota 2 will just crash to desktop randomly whenever it feels like it with no error code ( I read that the quad core I have sometimes can cause problems, so I set the affinity to two, and it doesnt help too much) my borderlands game will be fine and freeze and crash unexpectedly. The core temps seem to be fine and my question is: do you think it is a faulty cpu or RAM? or is it just that my video card is out dated and i need a new one. ( I am planning on buying http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161404 this week)
any help would be great!

also, is it a good idea to get the AMD card? or should I get a NVIdia card with physx because of my old CPU?

run memtest86 from a boot disk. if your ram passes try another power supply first with your old gpu. with your gpu use msi afterburner turn on max fan profile. a lot of crashed if it not voltage issue is the gpu running hot barbecue the fan not spinning up to max speed. before you buy a new gpu look at your power supply post it spec up. if it to low of wattage or a split rail unit it may not work with a high end gpu/

First question: what make/model of psu are you using?

Next: Your system is on the old side, but that cpu is pretty stout. What resolution and effects are you trying to play and what fps are you expecting? The 630 is a very weak card and will not give you much for gaming.

Last: If you decide on the radeon, be advised that (a) you will most likely need a new psu, and (b) you may have issues, even with a bios update, trying to get decent performance out of the G41 chipset as they do not play well with radeon cards at times.

If you want to stay with nvidia in the same price range, look at the gtx660, or if you can squeeze out a few more bucks, the 760. Again, you will most likely need a new psu as well.

Thanks for the response. The psu, the motherboard, and an aftermarket CPU fan are the only items I purchased brand new. I have a corsair Cx 430. I believe that is the model name, or something close to it
