Asus P8P67
Windows 7
Ripjaw ram 2X4gb
HDD is 1.5TB don't remember brand
1 long and 3 short beeps

I read that 1 long and 3 short beeps means a memory issue, but I'm not sure how to tell if my RAM is bad. If I unplug the HDD, I can get into BIOS and it picks up the RAM. If I plug in the HDD, it just gives me the 4 beeps. I'm wondering what I should look at/for to tell what is the actual problem.

I was using the computer and it froze up, so I restarted it and it went into the beeps. I checked wires and everything looked ok. I repositioned RAM and checked HDD wires and all of that. Everything looks ok, though I am no computer expert.

Solution

When I first started it without the hdd, I hsd to reset cmos to get it to do anything.

I went in and disconnected everything and reset cmos. Reconnected/reseated everything and it boots now. Had to pick hdd in bios for windows to load. Im not sure what, but something corrected. Thanks.

But the graphics card works. I can get the BIOS screen if the HDD is unplugged.
